Living with the Art

On October 10th, the Lualdi showroom in Los Angeles hosted “Living with the Art / The Art of Living,” a special presentation by architect Roberto Palomba, co-founder of the design studio Palomba Serafini Associati alongside Ludovica Serafini.

Timed to coincide with Contemporary Art Day and Italian Design Day, the event delved into the evolving dialogue between seriality and uniqueness in contemporary design.

Today, the boundaries between design and art are increasingly fluid, challenging conventional distinctions between mass-produced objects and singular creations. It is within this intersection that innovation thrives—where design adopts the soul of art, and art embraces the language of design.

As Palomba posed during the presentation: When does a serial object become art? And when does a unique piece begin to question the very idea of seriality?

This exploration highlights a fundamental shift in how we interpret contemporary living—where the repetitive meets the exceptional, and the functional becomes expressive.
